Microsoft and Sony refusing Cyberpunk 2077 refunds
Man, talk about about a pity with this one. Cybperpunk 2077 was one of the biggest releases of the year and when it released, it was met with controversy. Unfortunately, it’s not unwarranted. The console versions of Cyberpunk 2077 are straight up bad and just unpolished. Even fans who were excited for the game are disappointed…
…and unfortunately, the main head honchos know it. There have been a boatload of refunds for this game throughout the past few days. It’s been happening across both platforms and unfortunately, refunds have been refused by both.
Why the refunds for Cyberpunk 2077 are being refused
In the defense of both companies, it isn’t fully their fault and it’s important to note that. In this statement made by CDPR, there isn’t a special refund program Cybperunk 2077 and it’s faults. However, while it is an explanation, it’s still not a great look for CPRG. It just cements the already large impression that the game was rushed out the door. Sony in particular is guilty of denying the refunds which just makes them and CDPR look bad. Not helping matters is that there are a lot of refunds for Cyberpunk 2077 and they seem to be halting them due to the amount.
CD Projekt RED did release a statement apologizing for everything that’s happened and want to give more refunds. They also said that they will continue to update the game and make up for their mistakes. One can only hope they do because man are they talented. CD Projekt Red is a company that meant well, but were clearly forced to rush this game out. Not just by investors, but even by us who have been waiting a long time for it to come out.
Can CD Projekt Red turn things around?
They absolutely can; however, that doesn’t change that they did lost consumer faith and that sucks. CDPR can use this to learn from their mistakes with Cybperunk 2077 and it seems they already are. They did say they will be updating the game and the first one will apparently come out in January. But…it’s unfortunate to see such a widely anticipated game come out in such a shameful state.
What do you guys think of this whole situation with Cyberpunk 2077 and CDPR? Can they salvage themselves or is the situation hopeless? Let us know in the comments.
