Cyberpunk 2077 Final Night City Wire

0

This week, CD Projekt Red shared the final episode of Night City Wire. This is their series of streams about the upcoming game Cyberpunk 2077. The game releases in just over two weeks, so this could be the last information dump we get before it’s on our screens. The developers shared new details on Johnny Silverhand, whom they consider to be a “co-protagonist”. They also shared how it was working with Keanu Reeves on the project. We also got a look behind the scenes at the soundtrack. They ended the episode with a new gameplay trailer which gives us loads of details about the story.

Johnny Silverhand, portrayed by Keanu Reeves, is a main character in Cyberpunk 2077. The short clip in this Night City Wire episode sheds some more light on the character, putting him in the spotlight. Specifically, we get to hear a little more about his goals in Night City. Silverhand is hell-bent on destroying a corporation, a goal which he insists the player must help with.

In a behind-the-scenes clip, Keanu shared some more details on the character and the game. He mentions how your choices shape Johnny’s attitude. Choices which are, of course, a large part of this sprawling RPG. Reeves goes on to explain that this player agency is one of the things that drew him to the role, as it allowed him to see various sides of different characters. However, Reeves wasn’t always tied to the role. The English Adaptation Director for the game explained that they explored various options, including various rock stars and actors. He even teased that they toyed with the idea of reviving a recently deceased musician, although he didn’t go on to specify who.

Keanu Reeves’ involvement certainly helps ground the game in the gritty Cyberpunk-themed universe, but the music also helps set that scene. In this episode of Night City Wire we also got a look behind the scenes at the soundtrack of the game, which involves various famous artists including Grimes and Rat Boy.

Thankfully, CD Projekt Red have put plenty of thought into how this soundtrack might affect streamers, as some of the songs are copyrighted. There is a streamer-specific mode that removes copyrighted music from the game, replacing it with other tracks. This means streamers can relax and share the game with their audience without worrying whether they could be banned. Consoles will automatically apply this setting when you stream, whilst PC players can toggle the setting in the menu.

To end the episode, the team also revealed that users on all platforms will be able to get access to some cool digital items, such as a Witcher-themed jacket for the player character, in Cyberpunk 2077.

Those are all the details from the fifth and final Night City Wire episode. What do you think of all the new details? Are you looking forward to stepping into Night City? Let us know over on the forums, or on our social media! You can find more from our team below:
